Accessorizing Your Ties With Tie Bars

You’ve only bought yourself a new necktie bar but don’t really know how to wear it simply because you’ve seen people wearing it differently all the time. Wearing this accessory can be a very confusing affair especially if it’s your first time. Also known as the necktie clip, the tie bar it is a prime accessory that will keep your neckwear in place and add in to an overall professional look.

Rampant in the fashion scene once, the tie bar has now made an equally strong comeback. Look through stores and you will find a huge range of tie bar styles and designs that you can choose from. Undoubtedly it is a must have men’s accessory that adds to complete a distinguished and sophisticated look.
Here are a few tips that will help you achieve a sophisticated look with this bar.

1. If you are wearing a jacket over your shirt and necktie, make sure that the bar is not hidden. An ideal tactic here is to wear your tiebar just below your chest, and a little above where you button your jacket. The idea here is to let the metal bar peek though.

2. Choosing the width of your tie bar is essential as well. If your necktie rack consists of a variety of tie styles and widths make sure you choose more than just one bar of different widths. This will help you choose the right tie bar width and style for a particular tie. For e.g. the width of the bar should not exceed three quarters of the width of the tie. Here are a few tips that will help you wear a tie bar appropriately

1. Hold the necktie firmly, press the clip and let the bar slide over the tie.

2. While sliding it over your tie, make sure you attach it to your shirt as well.

3. Make sure that the tie bar is between the fourth and the fifth button that’s on your shirt. This is a great professional look and the best for occassions or even an all important job interview.

4. Tilt it a little downwards after a gruelling day at work. The tilted tie bar is a great way to look casually dressed for an after work event, party or even a date.

5. If you’re attempting to follow a much more stylish look then make sure that you fix the tie bar between the third and the fouth button. This is also a great way to make you look slimmer and taller than you normally are.

6. A tie bar is generally preferred over a tie chain; although it does serve the same purpose, a tie chain could create holes in your shirt. Opt out of a tie chain if you do not want to mess up your shirt with holes. Another reason to skip the tie chain is that it is out of style, and only your Grandpa would recommened it.
