How to Build a Bigger Medicine Cabinet Without Invading the Bathroom Space

When it comes to home interior design, one part of the house that needs to be addressed is the bathroom. A bathroom is a private sanctuary for every member of the family so it does not only need to be functional but also comfortable as well. And those largely depends on how you design and layout your bathroom. And when it comes to that matter, one furniture that home owners should be concerned with when designing a bathroom is the medicine cabinet. In some cases a medicine cabinet can either make a bathroom look larger or smaller. You obviously do not want to make your bathroom look cluttered, so the trick is to build a medicine cabinet with the perfect size relative to the size of the bathroom.

The bathroom is considered to be one of the busiest rooms in a house. This means that when the main concerns are not addressed, it could get very cluttered rather quick. And that could be very counterproductive when it comes to a bathroom setting. And that is why you will be needing a cabinet so you can organize your bath vanities and other bathroom essentials and prevent the buildup of clutter. This makes the bathroom appear larger due to the absence of clutter. But of course, you have to choose a medicine cabinet that would fit in nicely with your bathroom. This is especially crucial if you have a small bathroom space.

In most cases, home owners would opt for a traditional surface mounted cabinet. But the problem is that they are made with the utilitarian sensibility and not to be aesthetically pleasing and be efficient when it comes to space consumption. Traditional medicine cabinets are big and bulky, and since they are not meant to blend in with the existing interior design of the bathroom, it will most likely stick out like a sore thumb. Not to mention the fact that it can severely overcrowd your bathroom which can affect the functionality and comfort of the bathroom. If you want to maximize the available space in your bathroom and at the same time enhance its aesthetics, it is recommended that you opt for recessed medicine cabinets.

You will find that recessed cabinets are about three to four inches smaller than a traditional medicine cabinet. And that is a lot of space saved especially if you have a small bathroom space. Recessed medicine cabinets are built into the walls themselves, so you do not have to be concerned about their stability and reliability. Recessed medicine cabinets are usually incorporated with a mirror which further improves their functionality. They are functional, space efficient and they look great in a bathroom. The only disadvantage is the cost but considering the benefits that you can get from a recessed medicine cabinets, the investment is very much worth it.

Keep in mind that when it comes to your bathroom, functionality and comfort always comes first. And that is only possible if you address the issue of space in the bathroom from the get-go.
