How to Install a Finger Pull on Cabinet Doors

One of the best ways to enjoy the weekend is by working at home. There are several home improvement tips that are very easy to do that even a woman can handle it. One of easiest work is on how to install finger pull on cabinet door. The steps are so simple and it only takes several minutes to work on it.

The things that you will need on this activity are the screwdriver, a drill and its corresponding drill bit, a pair of pliers, pencil, measuring tape and your choice of finger pulls. Most of these materials are already found in your homes, except for pulls that you are about to install. Tip when looking for your new ones: if you are replacing an old one, bring it with you and look for pieces which have the same distance between the two screw holes. This is to minimize your installing efforts, because there will be no need for you to drill the holes where you will screw your items. Make sure that you also check on the length of the screws. It should be smaller than the thickness of the cabinet door.

As stated earlier, it is very easy to install them on cabinet door. If you are replacing an old one, the steps are even simpler. Since they have the exact size in terms of the distance between the screw holes, you will just have to screw back the new finger pull in place of the old finger pulls. Hold the screws in position and tighten it.

In case the new one does not match the size of the old, get the tape measure and measure the distance between the two screw holes. It is easier if it has a template, this will assure you that the finger pull is positioned in a correct way. But if there is no template, you should measure the whole length of the cabinet door then divide it into 2. Mark the middle part of the cabinet door, then position your finger pull at exactly the middle part. Once you have positioned the finger pull, mark the screw holes by putting the pencil inside the hole and putting a mark on it.

To install the finger pull on the cabinet door, drill hole inside the marked area. Choose a bit which has smaller diameter than the screw. When drilling, make sure that you do not drill too far, that might cause a hole on the other side of the cabinet door. Estimate the length of the screw and stop when you reach ¾ the size of the screw. After creating the holes, position the holes of the finger pull on top of it and attach the screws. Tighten it after you are sure of the position of the finger pull.

If there are several cabinet doors that you need to put finger pulls to, you just have to repeat the process on all of them. Remember, it is important that you measure accordingly. Measurement is the crucial part in this process; you might ruin the cabinet door due to the number of holes that you might create if you do not measure properly. The next time you plan to install the finger pull on the cabinet door you have a breeze because you now know how to mount the finger pull properly.
